Environmental Regulation

PAGE NOT READY

In addition to helping to address compliance issues, Wine Institute and CSWA seek regulatory recognition for the industry’s sustainability efforts. For example, Wine Institute’s Environmental Affairs team worked with the Sacramento team to develop a Third-Party Program that provides step-by-step guidance for compliance with Waste Discharge Requirements for vineyards in the Napa River and Sonoma Creek watersheds. In addition, the team coordinated with the Environmental Committee, FIVs and other global trade associations to develop a free International Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol and conduct a California Wine Carbon Footprint Study in anticipation of future regulatory and/or market requirements to reduce GHG emissions. See below for more on environmental regulation and compliance issues.
