TTB Resources & Funding

Wine Institute works closely with our principle regulator, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), on a wide array of issues impacting our members. These issues include everything from winery permitting and excise tax payments, to labels and COLAs, formula approvals and export support activities.

In order for TTB to fulfill these vital functions, it must have adequate resources to meet the staffing and technological needs of a modern regulator overseeing an industry that has experienced significant growth in the last decade. Wine Institute has worked with industry partners in recent years to ensure Congress provides these needed funds and we have succeeded in increasing TTB’s budget by more than 10% in that time. Even with this increase, TTB’s budget has not kept up with inflation and the explosive growth in the industry.
