Free Trade Agreements

Wine Institute is a vocal advocate for Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that eliminate tariff and non-tariff barriers and level the playing field for wine exports. Strong FTAs lead to increased market access for U.S. wines in growing markets around the world.

We continue to urge the U.S. government to finalize comprehensive agreements with trading partners in critical markets including North America, Japan, United Kingdom, and Brazil. Through our participation in three different U.S. government Trade Advisory Committees, we work to ensure the inclusion of provisions addressing both tariffs and technical barriers to trade. The inclusion of comprehensive Wine Annexes in several recent FTAs is the product of years of Wine Institute work in this area.
