Maine Opens RFP Process for EPR Program

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has opened the RFP process for its EPR Stewardship Program. Proposals must be submitted to DEP by August 3, 2026. We expect a PRO to be chosen by midfall. Once a selection is made, producers will have 90 days to sign up with the PRO to begin the process of full implementation of EPR in Maine.

DEP is currently developing guidance to assist producers with compliance. The guidance is expected to be released in the Summer of 2026 and will be available on the department’s website.
