Louisiana Removes Limitations on Container Sizes for Wine

May 15, 2026, Gov. Jeff Landry signed legislation (HB 805) that replaces the state-specific requirements for approved container sizes and case configurations for wine with the federal standards of fill. Starting Aug. 1, 2026, wine packaged in any size container size authorized by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau may be sold in or shipped into Louisiana. This change applies to both wholesale and direct-to-consumer sales. Under the current law, only wine packaged in 750 ml, 1.5 L and 3 L containers may be sold and shipped to consumers
