Implementation of DTC Programs in Arkansas and Mississippi

We have previously noted the new DTC laws in Arkansas and Mississippi that will be coming on line later this year. Following passage of the Mississippi law, Wine Institute worked with the legislature to pass legislation (SB 2851) to remove the criminal penalties that were included in SB 2145 and replace with them civil penalties. This change was approved by the Governor on April 10th.

We are working closely with both agencies to craft regulations that will be reasonable and as unobtrusive and uncomplicated as possible. In both cases the agencies are committed to those goals as well and are working with us to achieve them. The currently expected timing for both states would allow for licensing/permitting to be live in August. We will keep you apprised as the process continues and will update you on any changes to that expected timeline. If you have any questions in the meantime, feel free to reach out to Annie Bones or Hunter Limbaugh.”
