Wine Institute Submits Comments on CDFA’s Cannabis Appellation Regulations

On May 6, Wine Institute submitted comments on behalf of 24 statewide and regional wine associations in response to the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) notice of proposed regulations to implement a system for appellations of origin for cannabis cultivation. Wine Institute’s comments, drafted with significant support from the Napa Valley Vintners, are aimed at ensuring the integrity of the wine appellation system and preventing the unjustified use of American Viticultural Areas by the cannabis industry.
