TTB to Review Advertising Materials at No Cost

Following Wine Institute’s meeting with the Alcohol and Tobacco, Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) in mid-March, TTB issued a fifth regulatory reminder regarding health-related statements in advertising. The bureau encouraged industry members to submit advertising materials to Market.Compliance@ttb.gov for a no-cost review if they are unsure about whether it complies with TTB advertising regulations.TTB also reminded industry members that they may use that same email address to report advertisements that may be in violation of TTB regulations by providing a screenshot or photo of the advertising material in question. Please note that the bureau generally does not comment on the outcome or provide the findings of advertising reviews except to the responsible advertiser. Finally, TTB linked to its guidance on common advertising mistakes it sees during reviews including advertisements with false or misleading health-related statements like “”will improve memory,” “no headaches” and “provides energy.”
