Register for Aug. 7 Webinar on Indoor Heat Illness Regulations and Workplace Violence Prevention Plans

Registration is open for a Aug. 7 webinar presented by Wine Institute, California Sustainable Winegrowing Association and California Winegrape Growers Association on the new indoor heat illness prevention regulation as well as an update on the Workplace Violence Prevention (WVP) plans. New Cal/OSHA regulations to address indoor heat illness prevention took effect last week that require employers to take action when indoor temperatures rise above 82 degrees. The new law requires employers to provide cooling areas and to monitor workers for signs of heat illness. At an indoor temperature of 87 degrees, employers must take further measures, such as cooling the worksite, allowing more breaks, slowing the rate of production or rotating workers through assignments and providing protective equipment such as personal fans or cooling vests, if heat persists.

WVP requirements are in place as of July 1, 2024, and a general industry workforce violence prevention standard will be finalized by December 31, 2025. Employers at farms, orchards, vineyards and other agricultural workplaces will also be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining an effective written WVP plan.
