Publicity Opportunity: Request for Virtual Wine Events

To help keep California wines top of mind during social distancing and tasting room closures, Wine Institute is developing a press release highlighting innovative ways that wineries are bringing California wine country to consumers. We received widespread news coverage with our release about Down to Earth Month shipping offers and wine discounts. Many of the virtual tasting programs that wineries are now offering have also been getting great media exposure.

To keep the buzz going, we’re planning a roundup on new and creative engagement programs as well as virtual tastings by California wineries that both locals and consumers outside of California can experience. Submissions must be from Wine Institute members or from regional wine associations and include Wine Institute members.

Some great examples to date include:

  • Stay-at-Home Food and Wine Pantry Kits delivered to consumers
  • Home Wine Blending Kits for virtual blending sessions
  • Virtual Chef and Sommelier Pairings (this is a great time to work with the on-premise trade) where the winery’s chef/sommelier offers customized recipes and pairing suggestions for items in the consumer’s pantry
  • Live Online Cooking Demos with wine pairing suggestions
  • Online “End of Work Day” Yoga Sessions followed by a tasting.

Post your innovative wine experiences and virtual tastings with a media-worthy photo by April 14 below.

POST YOUR VIRTUAL WINE EVENT →

Select a one-month time frame if your activity or offer is ongoing, and you may submit a second time for the following month. We encourage you to submit ongoing events – and continue to submit virtual events after the April 13 deadline – as we will continue to pitch this content to media and on our social media platforms over the next few weeks and beyond. Please include a descriptive event title and highlight how your virtual tasting is different – live music, food pairings or education on a specific varietal. Events must be open to all adult wine consumers, not just wine club members or other limited groups.
