CSWA Issues Audit Changes for Remainder of 2020

In response to the Governor’s Shelter-in-Place order to address COVID-19, the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance (CSWA) informed Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing (CCSW) participants and auditors about the following adjustments to audits that will be in place for the rest of this year:

  • Desk audits will be completed in lieu of onsite audits for the remainder of 2020 for vineyards and wineries that are already certified to CCSW. Desk audits will also be allowed for first year audits, with an onsite audit required in year two.
  • The May 1 deadline has been extended to June 1, and CSWA will also consider requests for further extensions. For now, the July 1 deadline will remain the same and reevaluated as the situation evolves.
  • For wineries planning to use the logo, Chain of Custody Audits should be completed via desk audit if taking place during the Shelter-In-Place order.

CSWA will continue to monitor the situation and will be in touch if further amendments are needed. Please email certification@sustainablewinegrowing.org with any questions and for extension requests, which should include name, why the extension is needed, and a proposed extension date.
