The California Occupational Health and Safety Standards Board (Cal/OSHA) hastily approved new emergency regulations that place strict requirements on employers dealing with the COVID-19 impact in the workplace. Despite strong objections from Wine Institute and the California Association of Winegrape Growers, these emergency regulations were filed on Monday, Nov. 30, and went into effect immediately.

At this time, it is unclear how quickly enforcement will proceed; however, all California employers are expected to comply with these regulations and should be implementing the new requirements. In recognizing that these regulations are burdensome, prescriptive, and in many respects unworkable, Wine Institute is continuing to collaborate with a broad business coalition to explore all options.

Please join Wine Institute and the California Association of Winegrape Growers for a webinar this Friday, Dec. 4, at 10:00 a.m. to discuss these new regulations and how they apply to wineries and winegrape growers. The law firm of Fisher Phillips will present and provide guidance on how to comply with the new regulations.
