Craft Beverage Coalition Hosts Sept. 9 “Call to Action”

Wine Institute, along with members of the Craft Beverage Coalition, is actively engaged in recruiting industry advocates across the nation to participate in a national Day of Action on September 9 by contacting their members of Congress to urge passage of the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act, S.362/H.R. 1175.

Day of Action participants are encouraged to call, tweet and email their members of Congress to pass this bipartisan legislation.

Stay-at-home orders and social distancing policies have had a significant impact on distillers, brewers, vintners, cider producers and mead makers, as fewer Americans dine and drink outside of their homes, travel, or attend events and gatherings. Right now, small businesses are struggling to reopen safely, make payroll and continue production. Additionally, these businesses face an increase to their federal excise taxes in 2021.

If Congress doesn’t enact the Craft Beverage Modernization and Tax Reform Act (H.R. 1175/S. 362), businesses that are already struggling will face higher federal excise taxes, causing some businesses to close their doors permanently.

We NEED Congress to provide critical federal excise tax relief and ask our members to join us in this effort by contacting their members of Congress and inviting their employees and business partners to join our call to action through Sept. 30.
